About your therapist

Hi, I’m Damarys!

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I would like to welcome you as you have taken the first step to care for your mental health. At times we don’t know which way to turn to seek the help we need. I am here to help you through this journey. I want you to feel comfortable to explore your needs as therapy is a collaborative endeavor between client and counselor.

I have been a counselor since 2014 and I have served the adult and elderly population in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. I provide a safe environment for the free expression and analysis of feelings and symptoms where you can heal and grow. My therapeutic approach includes the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, narrative therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy among others. We all have a story to tell and I approach my clients from a person centered and culturally focused perspective.

We will work together to assess your needs and formulate a custom treatment plan that will allow you to improve your quality of life and empower you. I am passionate about working with clients to find their inner strength to help them blossom and reach their maximum potential.

My specialties include:

  • anxiety therapy

  • communication skills

  • coping skills

  • depression therapy

  • first responders

  • grief/bereavement counseling

  • relationship problems

  • self-esteem

  • social skills

  • stress management

I’m a Certified Grief Educator. A Certified Grief Educator is committed to providing the highest level of grief support through education, experience, and insights into the often unacknowledged rocky terrain of grief.

Certified Grief Educators completed a certificate program designed by world-renowned grief expert, David Kessler. They bring his unique methodology, tools, and decades of experience to help people navigate the challenges of grief.

In addition, I am a qualified supervisor for mental health counselor interns. I understand the need for support through the licensure journey and the difficulties that may arise. Get in touch today to learn more.
