Not everyone experiences anxiety the same way. “Fear is the emotional response to real or perceived imminent threat, whereas anxiety is anticipation of future threat” (DSM-5, 2013). As unique as we are, our symptoms manifest based on the situations we are facing at the time. Not all anxiety is bad. At times, anxiety can propel us to accomplish tasks and face challenges.

When anxiety becomes chronic and interferes with your daily life, therapy can help you learn how to manage your symptoms. Utilizing coping skills that will decrease the symptoms and the frequency you experience them; we can work together to manage your anxiety.

FAQs

What are anxiety therapy sessions like?

Therapy sessions are pretty straight forward. We talk during the session about your current situation and how it is affecting your life at the moment. The session is designed to make you comfortable and where you can share as much as you want in a safe environment.

How long do I have to be in therapy?

Therapy sessions are based on the needs of the individual. Those clients who deal with more difficulties tend to need more sessions than those who only need to address one or two concerns. I usually spend the first couple of sessions getting to know the client and their needs to be able to create a good foundation for the therapeutic relationship.
